Gong Xi Fa Cai! Xin Nian Kuai Le!
Also known as the Spring Festival, Chinese New Year is one of the most colourful and spectacular festivals in the Chinese calendar. Based on a lunar calculation, the date varies from year to year and this year it is on the 14th February 2010. The celebration of Spring goes on for 15 days, and is celebrated by Chinese people all over the world, from China to Hong Kong, from America to Britain, from Singapore to Australia.
What makes this festival such a highlight with the young and the old are its bright colours, the sound and smell of lighted firecrackers and the wonderful customs and traditions that bring family and friends together.
